The plan - Tian An Men Square, Forbidden City, oldest mosque in Beijing, Muslim supermarket, Silk factory, Silk market
Had to wake up really early in the morning coz to avoid heavy traffic since the Tian An Men Square and Forbidden City is in the middle of Beijing. Nothing much to tell (or see) in Tian An Men Square as its just a square (macam Dataran Merdeka).
Next to the square is the Forbidden City. It's all about the pictures.We were also told about the stories of the buildings, pathways, even the tempayan by Max.
Off to the oldest mosque in Beijing after lunch. Got lost in the mosque trying to find ladies sections. Beautiful mosque by the way. Really nice...
Across the street is a Muslim Supermarket where everything inside are (I suppose) Halal. Bought breads and some cakes for breakfast and munching in the bus.
Silk factory is a GLC shop. Explained all the different kind of silk China has. We didn't buy anything due to the high price. Then off to silk street market for shopping. The name is silk street market, but they actually sells a lot of things except silk.
Tips in silk street market. Crazy salesperson. Really super crazy starting price. Can you imagine a firdge magnet that would cost around 70yuan each (~MYR35). We were like 'kepala hotak dia'. And teh salesperson are ALL MOSTLY rude. Once you ask the price, you have to buy. Do tawar first before buying. Tawar as in betul punya tawar. Go down till 90% of the starting price. They're really crazy. You most likely won't want to buy here after hearing the prices. But bear in mind, other markets does not have the quality of the product they have here. So, if you like it, bargain, and buy.
Example of bargaining prices:
Fridge magnet - starting price 70yuan. Final price 10 yuan. <- not worth it. you can get 3 magnets for 10 yuan at Jewelry City.
Beijing t-shirt - starting price 150yuan (gila). Final price 20 yuan <- 15yuan in the clothes market we went on Day 4.
Le sportsac sling bag - Starting price 300yuan. Final price 100yuan <- can get 50 yuan at another market but the quality not so good. The quality of fake hbags here are better.
Armani manbag - Starting price 900yuan. Final price 150yuan. <-original leather.
Longchamp bag - 35yuan <- I didn't bargain on this.
Adidas sport attire - Starting price 600yuan. Final 100yuan. <- can get better price at other market on Day 4.
If you are going to this market, prepare all the bargaining skills. Also be prepare to gaduh a bit. Ada siap berpukul pukulan. Good luck!
