Where It All Began

I copied this from my sister's notes on facebook.

During raya visits, we have the privilege of listening to recounts of grand-uncles' first-hand experience during the Japanese occupation up to the independence of Malaya. This year, one grand-uncle related how the Felda scheme was developed.

In the 60's, the state of Melaka started a resettlement program, enabling the people of Melaka to develop & own land for agriculture. It was all hard labor, using parangs, no machines. The area is today's Hutan Percha & Menggong. Then Tunku Abdul Rahman visited, liked the idea and handed it to Tun Abdul Razak to develop the program at the national level. Thus Felda was born.

Though not necessarily always true, we like to say Melaka is where it all began :-)

One is belated, one is early.
To all Malaysians, Selamat Hari Merdeka, Selamat Hari Malaysia

Anyway, the tagline "Melaka, it's where it all began" was created by me.

I still remember how this tagline came to life. It was about a year (or two) ago. In 1Sentral Office. We had this 'fight' about which state is worth visiting.
Anip was defending Kelantan for it's unique culture and super delicious food (had to agree with him). Saying that even here in KL I'm still looking for Nasi Kerabu at least once a month
week. Terliur lakk...

Mie was trying to persuade that Kuantan is the best. Until now I'm not sure for what reason actually. Can't really accept that. Sorry bro!
And of course, I was promoting Melaka. And when they ask me why should we go to Melaka when everything that Melaka has can also be found anywhere else (except for the superb Asam Pedas of course) and I started saying "Hey.. Melaka is where it all began OKKKK!!!"

Of course I won the battle of 'State worth visiting for (if you can choose only 1)' discussion.
